The Opportunity:
Port of Newcastle is looking for an experienced Utilities & Assets Officer to support the Infrastructure Services Team.
This role is key to the effective planning, delivery, and maintenance of Port of Newcastle’s infrastructure, utility and asset management.
You will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy of utility data, managing tenant meter information, and meeting regulatory requirements related to power and water services.
Your responsibilities will also include reviewing and managing power supply contracts, liaising with utility authorities, and providing data analysis and usage forecasts to inform decision making tasks.
In terms of asset management, you will oversee maintenance planning by generating work orders, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring all work documentation is accurately recorded and processed. You will assist in maintaining the asset register, updating asset records, and asset management plans.
This role will also involve contributing to risk assessments, long-term budget forecasting, and the ongoing development of the asset management system. You will be responsible for managing the Port’s vehicle fleet, including coordinating vehicle replacements, tracking fuel usage, ensuring timely maintenance, and managing vehicle registration renewals.
You will also be responsible for procurement activities such as creating purchase requisitions, processing purchase orders, and reviewing invoices. You will support the development of processes for managing utility services and contractors, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
What you will bring:
We are looking for a minimum of five years’ experience in utilities or asset management, with a proven experiencing working across various systems and processes to support infrastructure management.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools is essential, especially in asset management and finance functions.
You will be highly proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and have strong report writing, data management, and presentation skills.
Your ability to work independently, while effectively coordinating with internal teams and external contractors, will be important to your success.
Additional qualifications or experience in embedded networks, power and water metering industries, and risk management will be highly regarded.
Familiarity with TechnologyOne or similar ERP systems is also desirable.
